My Best Friend's Wedding

The past few weekends have been spent celebrating some of my closest friends.  This past weekend I made a trip to the Big D for a great friend from TCU's wedding, Meggie!  We celebrated her bachelorette party weekend in Fort Worth, TX a couple weeks before the wedding.  I had the honor of being a bridesmaid and it was a great weekend.  The ceremony was at her church and the reception was at the Hall of State building on the state fairgrounds- complete with corney dogs and all!  The wedding was fabulous and the blushing bride looked perfect.  Another TCU friend, Brittany, got engaged a few days before the wedding weekend so I'll be back to Dallas in no time...  So much love in the air :)  Here are some pictures to recap the weekends!

Happy Monday to all!

Oh Baby Baby!

Where has the time gone??  Since starting work I have had zero time to do anything (explains the lack of blogging).  There simply are not enough hours in the day.  You real world-ers forgot to warn me a full time job would be so time consuming...

While I was MIA from the blogworld lots of fun things have happened!  Today's post is in honor of one of my good friend KALEY!  She is oh-so-close to having her sweet baby girl.  Her due date is July 24 but I think Blakely will come sooner (July 17th to be exact... keeping my fingers crossed for the due date guessing game prize).

A few weekends ago we hosted a shower for Kaley and baby BLU complete with a nauseating amount of desserts and sweets.  I made funfetti cupcakes (at the mama's request) and chocolate covered pretzels.  Here are some pics of my yummy desserts and some party pics.  Cant wait for Blakely to be welcomed to the world!

I survived week 1!

I did it.  I made it through one full work week at my big girl job.  Even better than surviving it, I LOVED IT!!  I have been a student there for the past 5 months but to be a real Speech-Language Pathologist and working there is even better.  The only thing that would've made my first work of week better is if Friday was pay day :)

I was warmly welcomed with pastries from Community Bakery and some celebration signs on my office door and desk.  I even got an ACH beach bag filled with a clipboard, post-its, and other official-ish supplies I may need.  I have the best co-workers ever.

Now don't get me wrong, It wasn't all peachy and easy.  I had several moments of "I have no idea what I'm doing" throughout the week.  I know that should be expected and I cant know everything on DAY 1 but it's still a scary thought.  I have a LOT to learn but lucky for me I have lots of wise and brilliant SLP's to teach me everything they know.  I just got really excited when I changed my "employer/job" section of my facebook profile and got to put Speech-Language Pathologist.  Not student.  Student no more and never again!

Now if only that first paycheck will get here soon...

Fill in the Blank Friday

Love LauraLou's Friday Blog posts so I copied :)

1.  This weekend I'm... catching up on my ever-growing To Do list, catsitting a diabetic cat (that I give an insulin shot to twice a day...), and hosting a baby shower for a bestie.

2.  My last vacation was... to Eureka Springs with the Boyfriend for a few days

3.  My next vacation will be... to Hawaii with the extended family in November! Not counting all the fun trip to DFW for bachelorette/wedding events this summer.

4.  My favorite way to relax is...lounging on the couch and reading blogs or watching trashy TV on Bravo.  #loafinislife

5.  When vacationing one should always... ask the locals where to eat/play.  They always know the best places.

6.  When vacationing one should never...get too sunburned.  That can really ruin a trip...

7.  The best part about vacation is...not having any responsibilities and getting to spend uninterrupted time with people you love

Now I need a vacation... have a great weekend!

Big Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is my first day at my first job!  I am excited and ready to have a paycheck but am sad to say goodbye to 2 week christmas breaks, spring breaks, and sleeping in.  It's time to grow up- I knew it was coming sooner or later...

To celebrate my last night of being a kid my sister and I cooked a spaghetti dinner with homemade sauce and meatballs using fresh herbs from our herb garden- DELISH!!

A quick trip to Cajun Sno (home of the best snow cone you'll ever have) was also in order tonight.  I have a slight obsession with ice and snow cones and I now live dangerously close to the snow cone stand.  I learned that Tiger's Blood flavor is strawberry and coconut- sounds yummy... I'll try that one tomorrow.  Snow cone comment from my 7 year old niece: "I wish there was a Justin Beiber snow cone flavor that unfortunately it's not on the menu yet so she settled for Wedding Cake flavor instead...

Happy June!

I can't believe it's already June 1st!  It really feels like summer to me now.  I am enjoying my last week of freedom before starting work next Monday.  It feels great to have nothing important planned for 5 straight days and no where to be other than the pool :)  In honor of the hot weather I wanted to share my current favorite beverages.  I love a MARGARITA but after seeing the nutrition facts of a regular margarita, this WeightWatcher had to find some other options.  The first is Bethenny Frankel's SkinnyGirl Margarita.  If you havent tried it yet- you need to.  It is delish and only 100ish calories per serving!  The second is a recipe that a friend's mom perfected.  It's so simple and yummy!

Frozen Skinny Margarita Recipe:
1 cup Tequilla
1 can Fresca
1 packet of Crystal Light Lemonade (pitcher size packet)
Ice
Blend all together and enjoy!

Happy June to all!

I would like to be sipping a skinnygirl right here

Staycation Part 2

Day 2 in Eureka Springs was just as full of fun as day 1... we started with relaxing massages in the hotel's spa.  Didn't get any pictures of the massages- that would just be creepy.  After massages we headed to lunch and then to go horseback riding.  I have a slight-to-severe fear of horses from a traumatic experience when a horse took off with me on his back at age 9ish so this was obviously the Boyfriend's activity choice.  It was 60 minutes of anxiety and fear for me!  He enjoyed it (and payed for it!) so I guess it was worth it.

I would've been perfectly happy just sitting here with Buddy (tied to the tree)

Next, we stopped to see Thorncrown Chapel.  It is a gorgeous glass chapel built in the middle of the woods.  My pictures from the inside of the chapel aren't very good so I had to turn to Google Images to give you a better idea.

I really like this sign outside the chapel

One last stop at the Drive Through Zoo.  I love a good zoo.  The Boyfriend has a huge fear of emu/ostriches (what's the difference?) and there were plenty running up to our windows.  My favorite was the giant buffalo who licked my window.

the deer were really aggressive and ran to the car everytime we slowed down

is your mama a llama?

On our drive home we stopped for dinner at Slim's Chicken in Conway and ran into Peyton Hillis (former razorback and current NFL player) and the Boyfriend was starstruck.  He congratulated him on making the cover of Madden 2012.  His life is complete now I think.  He wouldnt let me take any pictures of him though :(

We had a fabulous time and I would recommend a trip to Eureka Springs to anyone who has never been!  I'm off to the pool to enjoy Memorial Day Weekend!  Bye for now.
